Tuesday 25 April, 10am - 4pm
A one day drawing and painting workshop in the style of Venetian Masters, in the beautiful historic surroundings of the Priory, with tutoring from award winning local artist Patrick Smith.
Over the last 10 years - Smith's practice has centered around, exploring the forms of nature and how landscapes are perceived through the senses. Both landscape and abstracted, working en plein air and in the studio. Patrick channels the pioneers of 1950s modernism and constructivism in his abstract work across the language of painting and printmaking. Motifs range from the forming forces of nature in landscape centred around the Howardian hills and the east coast to very simple amphora bottle shapes and still life forms to be found in domestic settings.
Patrick has also taught at York College and as a visiting Scholar at University college of Ripon, York St John and Harrogate.
