With over 25 stands attending, the Spring Plant Fair is set to be a good one – offering something for everyone.
There are hundreds of daffodils planted throughout the gardens too this year to cheer us as Easter approaches and the blossoms and magnolias will be bursting into colour too.
Judy's first YORKSHIRE plant fair of the year is always at Newburgh Priory, our Kitchen tearoom will also be open for refreshements during the day.
Add in 40 acres to explore including the romantic water garden, discover the many and varied dog graves, explore the “royal” planting of trees and even search for the walled garden, and that’s before you start on the plant fair.
Don’t forget to bring cash as some of the stands do not take cards.
Who’s coming to Newburgh Priory Spring Plant Fair?
Alchemy Ferns
Multi award winning nursery, Alchemy Ferns, has been a supporter of Flower Power Fairs since I started my business in 2006. They now attend all the big horticultural shows including Hampton Court, Chelsea, The Malvern Flower Shows and RHS Tatton Park, etc, etc, so I am always thrilled when they book to come to see you all. Selling all varieties and specie ferns from the magnificent New Zealand tree ferns down to the humble maidenhair fern, Mark has them all.
Alfresco Design
Luke is based near Doncaster, Yorkshire and always has an incredible display of garden accessories. Ornamental delights including his iron trees, rusty plant supports, flying swallows, pots and planters and water baths. It’ll be interesting to see what he has in store for us this year.
Dark Star Plants
Jenny needs no introduction with her wonderful array of dark foliage plants and complimentary flowers to brighten up anyone’s gardens. She always brings an unusual selection of herbaceous plants for you, and of course, flowering spring bulbs.
Dibley’s Nurseries
Dibley’s have the reputation of being on the very best house plant specialists in the UK. Multiple winners of the RHS shows (well over 150 golds), and winners of their 33rd Chelsea Gold Medal last year, we are thrilled to be welcoming them to Flower Power Fairs. Specialists in Strepocarpus, (with their “Harlequin Blue” being awarded the RHS President’s Chelsea Plant of the Decade. They also grow the delightful Saintpaulia (African Violets) and foliage Begonias. All cultivated in their North Wales Nursery. Prepare to be seriously tempted.
Fayrefield Horticulture and Garden Design
Tracey is based at Seamer, near Scarborough and specialises in pollinator plants. She always brings an interesting selection of herbaceous and annual plants, wild flowers, vegetable plants and herbs as well as her own hand made willow sculptures including hares and dragonflies.
Field Flowers & Plants
New to Flower Power, we welcome Tom Fields with his interesting collections of cacti, succulents, outdoor perennials, trees and shrubs.
Freckles and Flora
Another new nursery to Flower Power this year is Henrietta based in Kirby Wiske near Thirsk. She will be bringing a variety of herbaceous plants, specifically umbels, asters, choice annuals all grown in her own homegrown peat free compost.
Gardening with Wildlife
A cornucopia of amazing things which Matthew has lovingly created out of discarded wood, wire, paper and anything else he can get his hands on. A large selection of hand made and correctly built bird boxes, hedgehog homes, owl boxes and habitat hotels. Aided and abetted by his wife, Fran, who creates many of the other items they sell, often with delightful decoupage pots and planters, sea glass creations, recycled copper items and Ben who is also a gifted wood turner in his own right bringing quality pens and wooden bowls. Gardening with wildlife is for anyone who wishes to tempt our birds, bees and mammals into our gardens.
Gatekeeper Nurseries
Based in East Yorkshire, Gatekeeper always bring a smorgasbord selection of incredible plants from climbers to creepers, shade lovers to shrubs, herbaceous favourites and early flowering plants. All grown in Yorkshire.
Giddy Kippers
Joanna and Barry are based in Nottinghamshire and over the years have got themselves a great reputation for growing all sorts of herbs, both culinary and medicinal, as well as vegetable plants, sun flowers and other interesting herbaceous perennials. This year they will be bringing a choice of cutting garden perennials for your gardens.
Herb Nursery
Peter and Christine Bench are based near Rutland and have supported Flower Power Fairs more or less since we started running the fairs in 2006. The tables are full of delightful plants, from herbs and spices, through to peppers, wild flowers, scented leaf pelargoniums and cottage garden plants. Christine always brings an amazing collection of plants.
Judith Lowther
Judith brings all sorts of things to Newburgh! Garden and rural agricultural relics, antiques and unusual tools and planters and also a selection of her own plants that she grows at her home and sells on to you. Always a great stand to take your time over.
Just Baskets
Cliff attends many of the large horticultural events during the season so, like Alchemy Ferns, we are lucky to welcome him to Newburgh Priory. All things baskets, from krugs to log baskets, shopping baskets and decorative baskets for your home. A must visit stand!
Middlemoor Cottage Garden Plants
Sharon and Jeff are based near Richmond and brings a vast selection of spring and early summer flowering plants including hardy perennials, cottage garden plants, annuals, vegetables and some lovely pots and containers. And in the middle of all this, they farm too.
Morton Nurseries
Gill is based near Newark in Nottinghamshire and over the years has created the most wonderful garden from what had been an empty field. She always brings delights! Specialising in very unusual plants and shrubs, you won’t be disappointed. Gold medal winners at RHS shows and Harrogate Flower Shows in previous years.
Must Forge
Mike brings a collection of his own handcrafted metal work ranging from huge sheep down to small hanging items for the garden.
Northern Ark Nursery
Many of you will remember Simon, the previous owner of Northern Ark. He sold out his business a couple of years ago and we are thrilled to welcome new owner, Ian Robson, to Flower Power. Depending on the season, Ian will be bringing his hardy herbs (they live in Northumberland!) 95% of which has been grown from their own cuttings. All grown in their own peat free compost.
Priorswood Clematis
Based in Hertfordshire, James has become a “standing dish” at the Flower Power Fairs for several years bringing a mouth-watering selection of their very own clematis, lonicera, jasmine, hardy Passiflora, Trachelospermum and Wisteria.
Queen of Green
Another new nursery to Flower Power is Sharon from Kirkby Fleetham. She will be bringing houseplants, tropical, native, carnivorous and foliage plants as well as some succulents and cacti.
Respect Soaps
Sandra’s stand always smells delicious with her huge variety of home made soaps, earth kind soap for hair, hands and body care items plus a small selection of scented home items. Wonderful quality and I can highly recommend her shampoos.
RSPB
Royal Society for the Protection of Birds will be our main charity this year, bringing knowledge and passion to our wonderful garden birds. Please consider joining the society to help our, sadly, diminishing bird life.
Summerfield Nursery
Based in Poppleton, York, Phil and Steph have been supporting Flower Power more or less from the start. They have a wonderful nursery just outside York. Phil will be bringing a large collection of grasses, shade lovers, ferns, hardy herbaceous, hostas, heuchera and so much more.
